I am posting a transcription of a letter written in 1988 by Michael Joseph Newell (a.k.a. Uncle Mick). Nola Bassett had written to Michael asking for information about the history of the Newell family. The letter contains many snippets of information about Mick's family, and entertaining anecdotes from his visit to Ireland in the early 1950s.

The attached photograph was annotated by Nola: "Mick, Paul, and Bill Newell, taken at Josie's wedding". Presumably that was Josie Martin. I don't know when her wedding was, but circa 1950 would be a rough guess. Michael is the tallest, on the left, Paul Boyle Newell centre, William Anthony Newell on the right.
